Embassy Brighton always offers activities that help students to do things they would never have considered before, and also gives them the opportunity to have a fantastic time and meet other students. Our centre specifically likes to organize programmes in which the students can learn from the many cultures from the vast array of students who attend the school.
Every April Embassy Brighton, together with Bellerbys College, organizes a special event in which the students display aspects of their country such as food, music, traditional dress, etc. This year we held the event on the 28th of April, and it was a great success.
We used the Exam Hall, a perfect place to hold the venue because it has the capacity to host more than five hundred students. Also, it’s a fantastic place to set the “live disco”, since there is an after-party following the event.
The event started at 7:00 pm. Before that, the students taking part set up their respective stands of their countries, along with tables, flags and food. When the party started, there were almost twenty stands full of food from countries such as: Thailand, China, Nigeria, Russia, Mexico, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, and many more.
The food was excellent, and everyone enjoyed sampling the food from other countries. The students did an excellent job. All variety of food could be tried there and all of it really good.
Once everyone filled their bellies the music started. There was a DJ who played requested music. The first songs were Arabic, and most of Arabic students went to the dance floor. Then there was Iranian, Chinese, and Spanish music. The Spanish music, salsa and merengue, was especially enjoyed by the students, including of course all the South Americans.
In conclusion, this event was really interesting because all the students got to learn something about different cultures. And above all, it was really fun.
