Students choose to study at Embassy English because they want to improve their English language skills with the most qualified teachers. Our diverse teaching staff is dedicated to helping students achieve their goals with fun and engaging interactive classes that help students learn English quickly and easily. We promise to give our students guaranteed outcomes, invaluable skills and amazing experiences that last a lifetime. Recently we caught up with Keith Parker, one of our English teachers at Embassy Gold Coast, to learn more about his passion for teaching and why Australia is great for international students.
My name is Keith and I’m a teacher here at Embassy Gold Coast on the sunny Gold Coast. When I am not in class I go surfing, play golf, go fishing, ride my bike along the beach, have barbecues and play in the park with my kids.
I started teaching English in 1996 and since then have worked in Taiwan, Japan and Brazil. Now I live and work on the beautiful Gold Coast.
The Gold Coast has an average of 287 days of sunshine, summer is December to February and it averages 19-29 degrees Celsius (66 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit) while winter is from June to August with an average temperature of 9 – 21 degrees Celsius (48 to 69 Fahrenheit).
The sub-tropical temperature averages at about 22 degrees Celsius which makes Gold Coast a remarkably ideal vacation or study area.
If I had to sum up my city in 3 words they would be it “MUST BE EXPERIENCED!”
Advice for any students starting their first day would be to walk around the city and get to know the layout of the streets and the buildings. Get a “go card” for the public transport system as it saves you 30% of the travel price. You can get one at 7/11.
Woolworths and Coles supermarkets have roast chickens really cheap so you don’t have to cook and roast chickens are so versatile you can have it in a bread roll, with pasta or with some veggies.
Since December 2013, I have been teaching at Embassy in Surfers Paradise. It is by far the best school I have worked for. All the staff are professional, knowledgeable and super friendly.
The technology the school uses is the most advanced I have ever used from the interactive Smartboards to the online workbooks and even the online student portal where students can access up to date grades and online tests and the ability to make contact with other students in other cities.
Students also do Bringing English To Life activities where they go out in to the public and do surveys or reports in English. What I like most of all about classes at Embassy is the fun we have while we learn.
The fun doesn’t stop at classes either. There are so many things to do here on the Gold Coast that the students are always busy enjoying themselves and experiencing life.
There are trips to the Whitsunday Islands, diving tours, seasonal festivals and theme parks just to name a few.
Living in Surfers Paradise has the best mix of country living, city living and beach lifestyle anyone could ever wish for, so what are you waiting for?« Previous post
