One of the greatest parts of being a student at Embassy English are the experiences. Students come to Embassy not only to improve their English language skills, but also to explore new parts of the world, to take part in diverse cultural activities, and to meet people from all over the globe. This week Mexican student Erika Tellez tells us more about her experience at Embassy Toronto as part of our series, My Embassy Life.
My name is Erika Tellez currently I live in Costa Rica and I worked and studied English in this country. I decided to come to Embassy Toronto to improve my English communication and look for a better job.
Because I think it’s part of my learning to live the experience in a native country.
My agency and some friends recommended Embassy. I read about this school and I thought that was the best option for me.
Because when I was young this was my dream. I wanted to come to Canada. I chose Toronto because it’s a great city, it has cultural diversity and friendly people.
I like and I enjoy many things. I’m grateful for the staff because they are friendly and help us all the time. My teacher Andrea is excellent teacher, she is a nice person and she whips up our English classes.
I’m happy because I have new friends, many friends. This was the best experience.
It was intermediate.
To be honest, I think my speaking, listening and writing skills have really improved! I’m more confident now.
I don’t have a favorite moment in Embassy. I have enjoyed all moments here. It has been an amazing experience. I met awesome people, wonderful places and my homestay family is great. Each moment will be recorded in my memory forever.
For me it was a personal goal. I had a strong experience because I didn’t speak English. Now I’m happy because I’m able to understand and maintain a conversation in this language.
I want to apply for another job, a job that will allow me to continue in contact with English language and improve it. Of course I want to travel to different places in the world and enjoy life.
Absolutely I would recommend Embassy English to everyone who wants to learn and improve your English.
There are many locations but for me the best place is Toronto.
My favorite phrase is “Practice makes perfect”. Because there are no limits when you want to do something.
It’s hard to choose only 3 places, but I think my favorite places are:
I would like to share my experience in my Homestay. At first I was really nervous about living in a Homestay, that also speaks another language, but when I met my host family it was comfortable because they are friendly people.
My host mom is Tina. She is a nice mother! She cooks delicious food and every day gave me an exquisite lunch. My host dad is always taking care all the family, including me.
My family chatted with me in different times to help me to improve my English communication. Also I played with the children and they practiced with me some words.
I loved the time I spent in Tina’s house, I’m really gonna miss Tina, Joachim, Nieskay, Azalia and Makai. Thank you for your time and your advice.
