My Embassy Life: Erika from Mexico at Embassy Toronto

One of the greatest parts of being a student at Embassy English are the experiences. Students come to Embassy not only to improve their English language skills, but also to explore new parts of the world, to take part in diverse cultural activities, and to meet people from all over the globe. This week Mexican student Erika Tellez tells us more about her experience at  Embassy Toronto as part of our series, My Embassy Life.

Absolutely I would recommend Embassy English to everyone who wants to learn and improve your English.

There are many locations but for me the best place is Toronto.

What’s your favorite word or phrase in English?

My favorite phrase is “Practice makes perfect”. Because there are no limits when you want to do something.

What are your 3 favorite places in your host city?

It’s hard to choose only 3 places, but I think my favorite places are:

  1. The Toronto Island, because it has the best view and It’s a beautiful place.
  2. Maple Tree Farms, because it’s wonderful when it’s snowing. I love the pancakes or French toast with Maple Syrup and hot chocolate.
  3. Niagara Falls, because they’re awesome!

Anything else you’d like to include?

I would like to share my experience in my Homestay. At first I was really nervous about living in a Homestay, that also speaks another language, but when I met my host family it was comfortable because they are friendly people.

My host mom is Tina. She is a nice mother! She cooks delicious food and every day gave me an exquisite lunch. My host dad is always taking care all the family, including me.

My family chatted with me in different times to help me to improve my English communication. Also I played with the children and they practiced with me some words.

I loved the time I spent in Tina’s house, I’m really gonna miss Tina, Joachim, Nieskay, Azalia and Makai. Thank you for your time and your advice.
