Students from Embassy Sydney have the unique opportunity to learn how to surf the world-famous waves of Australia’s coast. This week, we caught up with Ashley from our partners at Australian Surf Tours to learn more about their surfing programme.
Hi Guys, my name is Ashley and I am one of the Surf Coaches and surf guides from Australian Surf Tours. I was born in New Zealand (over the ditch some say!) & have been living here in Australia for the last 4 years. I have had the pleasure of working with the amazing Embassy Sydney staff for 3 years now and meeting and taking many Embassy students on some unforgettable learn to surf camps over the years passed.
The best part of my job is seeing students from all around the world, trying exciting new things, making friends & memories that will last a life time! The best way to do this, is to get out of the classroom & the busy city and practice in person, try new things, meet new people and absolutely, your English is going to improve but more importantly you will never forget your adventure to Australia!
Something that is so important to me is for the people from all around the world, who are here in Australia, learning and living, to be also enjoying and having the best experiences possible. Learning how to appreciate and love the ocean and the beach lifestyle, as well as staying safe in the surf is such an important part of the culture here.
Australians live such an outdoors lifestyle, there is a huge respect on mother nature, wildlife and of course the power of the ocean and there is nothing better than to immerse yourself into this aspect of Australia. Not only is it a lot of fun, but its healthy!
Many international students visiting Australia come from countries where surfing and even swimming in the ocean is not an option. We are very lucky here to have such a beautiful coastline with amazing surf conditions for us all to enjoy!
Learning to surf is easy – You need a good surf instructor, good equipment and a good attitude and each and every person is able to ride a wave!
During a weekend surf camp you will have 3 surf lessons aimed at progressing your surfing from a very beginner, allowing plenty of time for practice so you can get that picture for Facebook & more importantly you will learn how to understand how the ocean works so that you can continue to swim and surf along the Australian coastline confidently on your own or with friends.
If you haven’t had an opportunity yet to join us for one of our weekend surf camps- Dont worry, we have one coming up this month on Friday 16th- Sunday 18th of July, 2017!
We don’t only want to share the love and passion of surfing with you, we want to take you out of the busy city, show you the amazing south coast of NSW and share this beautiful landscape with you all. We are located just 1.5 hours south of Sydney City (only a small distance but once you’re here you feel miles away) that’s where you can find the AST Hub, sitting right on the beach front of Thirroul beach- Just 10 minutes north of Wollongong city.
Wollongong is famous as a Uni town with lots of great cafes, restaurants, beautiful beaches and of course skydiving! I recommend if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet to come on down by a direct train to spend the day exploring!
Australia & especially Sydney City has many amazing activities, sights and adventures to explore- and experience, there is nothing better while you are here learning English to immerse your self in these events and activities!!!
Come and join us for an all inclusive weekend away, learn how to experience the ocean in a completely new and exciting way, practice your English and most importantly share the true Australian Culture with us!!!« Previous post
