Embassy Play: Social Activities At Embassy New York

Each month our Embassy English centres plan a variety of activities where students can both explore their new host cities and have creative ways to bring their English language skills to life. Recently we caught up with Min Jeong Kang, a.k.a. Elly, from South Korea to learn about her favourite memories and experiences at Embassy New York

Tell us about yourself!

Hi, nice to meet you. I’m Elly. I’m from Korea. I’m a student and I’m here to study English. I’ve been here almost 11 months. I was in different language schools before coming Embassy New York.

What course are you taking at Embassy?

I’m taking General English standard 20 and I’m studying with Jennifer.

Tell us about your favourite social events at Embassy New York.

I have attended lots of events such as Christmas events, a Halloween party, a cruise party, and so on.

Why did you want to take part in these activities?

I wanted to hang out with my friends and to go to special places, so me and my friends always checked the schedule of activities.

What is your favourite memory from the activity?

My favorite memory is that when I went to the Dyker Heights Christmas lights in Brooklyn during last year. Everything was so beautiful and I had a really great time with my friends.

What has surprised you most about this experience?

I have met various people, so whenever I meet a very different person, I’m surprised how different we are.

Tell us about the friends that you have made at Embassy.

I have met many friends from different countries such as Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, etc. All of them are very kind and friendly, Maybe I’m so lucky. One of them is already graduated; however, we still keep in touch.

What do you like best about your host country?

The best thing is maybe food, have you ever been to Korea town? We have lots of healthy and delicious food. 🙂

What’s the best thing about learning English with Embassy?

Teacher and classmates are really nice and the location is really good.
