My Embassy Life: Mayana from Brazil at Embassy English

One of the greatest parts of being a student at Embassy English are the experiences. Students come to Embassy not only to improve their English language skills, but also to explore new parts of the world, to take part in diverse cultural activities, and to meet people from all over the globe. This week Brazilian student Mayana Magalhaes Simoes De Oliveira tells us more about her experience at  Embassy English as part of our series, My Embassy Life.

Tell us about yourself! 

So, I am from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Before Embassy English, I was working in my city. I am Dance Teacher, Dancer and Choreographer.

What course are you taking at Embassy?

I am in the TOEFL Class.

What was your level of English before you started Embassy?

Upper Intermediate

Why did you want to learn English abroad?

The dance company where I dance in Brazil has an exchange with an important center of dance and a dance company here in USA. Besides that, as I want to do a Master Degree, learning English became indispensable and it is better to learn abroad because I can have a real immersion in the language.

What made you choose Embassy English?

I already had studied at Embassy New York and I had a good time there.

What’s the best thing about learning English with us?

I think that you offer a good support to the students (structure, good teachers, etc.) .

How has your English improved?

My English has improved a lot. Paying attention, doing homework, watching movies.

What has helped you to improve your English the most?

I think that trying use English the most of time.

How do you think speaking English will help you in the future?

English can bring me closer to other people and to my goals.

What do you plan to do after your English course?

I don’t know yet… maybe to plan my next trip! 😀

My teacher Lynne for her smiles every day, her patience and competence to teach and her capacity to make classes always fun and interesting.
