My Embassy Life: Janejira from Thailand, Embassy New York

One of the greatest parts of being a student at Embassy English are the experiences. Students come to Embassy not only to improve their English language skills, but also to explore new parts of the world, to take part in diverse cultural activities, and to meet people from all over the globe. This week, Janejira Pintapakang from Thailand tells us more about her experience at Embassy New Yorkas part of our series, My Embassy Life

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Janejira Pintapakang. I come from Thailand. I was helping my family’s business before Embassy.

What course are you taking at Embassy?

I am taking General English Intensive Course 24 lessons. And I will study in TOEFL class after.

What was your level of English before you started Embassy?

I got intermediate level before I started.

Why did you want to learn English abroad?

Firstly, I believe that surrounding with native speakers would help me develop my speaking skill. Once, I can speak English well I can easily improve other skills such as writing and reading.

What made you choose Embassy English?

Well, Embassy English is a very first choice of mine. Embassy has an excellent reputation in Thailand with lots of great staff members. The course also fits with what I want to study. Together with, nice environment which is located in the heart of the city and easy to travel.

What’s the best thing about learning English with us?

With very well-educated teachers, I learn so many things. Not only in the text but also the city! Alyssa was my first teacher at Embassy. She was so smart. She always had awesome ways to teach students. She is cool for giving advice about things outside the class too. Now I am studying with Jennifer. I can tell that she is amazing. She knows what students think and want.

How has your English improved?

Since I study at Embassy English which I can surround with friends and people who are not from my country.  When I communicated with them, sometimes they did not understand what I said due to my accent. However, it really helped me to try my best to pronounce accurately.

What has helped you to improve your English the most?

Well, I have to thank to my teachers and all friends at school because I have gained all English skills from them. I have to speak English every day in order to communicate. And I study reading and listening from efficient material at school. Plus, there is writing in the class too with great teachers. Therefore, I can practice and improve pretty well and fast.

 Were there any teachers at your centre that helped you to succeed?

Alyssa was my first teacher at Embassy English. She did her best every time when she taught. She gave very useful suggestions not only in the class but also things outside the room. She always gave compliments to me which make me feel more confident and enjoy studying. So, it makes me feel really good and want to study English.

When it comes to academic English, Jennifer is an amazing teacher. She is the person who motivate me to study. She is very knowledgeable. I like studying in writing class with her. She always gives recommend and edit on my work in order to improve my writing. So, now I am able to speak, write, read and listen well. They are behind the scenes of my success.

What do you like to do in your spare time in New York City?

Well, I like going out and travel to new places. I like spending time in the city such as central park, downtown, or book stores.  Also, I like to find some nice cafe and hang out with my friends.

What’s your favourite memory so far?

I like the school. People are nice. I have known new people all the time. All my friends come from around the world. We exchange the ideas and perspectives. All the staff members are very helpful. I enjoy every single day at school because Embassy English is just not a school. I feel like it is a place that the students will be getting good education and have good times.

 How do you think speaking English will help you in the future?

Speaking is a tool to communicate with people. Even thought, I can not speak English very well like a native speaker but people can still understand me. Like, when I go study aboard or travel to other countries, I always communicate with people in English because English is an official language. When it comes to a modern world, English is very significant in study and work.

Would you recommend Embassy English to other students?

I  would definitely recommend Embassy English to my friends. First of all, all the teachers and staff members are so great. The environment at school is totally awesome. There are a lounge and computer rooms where the students can relax during the break. Students come from all around the world which we have a chance to learn other cultures.

What do you plan to do after your English course?

I plan to study in TOEFL class at Embassy English. Then, I am going to apply for Masters Degree in  Fashion industry in the states. After that, I would apply for an intern student in Fashion field to gain some experience for a few years before going back to my country.
