My Embassy Life: Hyun Jun at Embassy San Diego

One of the greatest parts of being a student at Embassy English are the experiences. Students come to Embassy not only to improve their English language skills, but also to explore new parts of the world, to take part in diverse cultural activities, and to meet people. This week South Korean student Hyun Jun tells us more about his experience at Embassy San Diego as part of our series, My Embassy Life.

Hello. I’m Hyun Jun from South Korea, but all of my friends just call me Jun. I have been studying here for 4 months and I have 2 more months. Before I came San Diego, I was a student preparing to be flight attendant. As you know, flight attendants should deal with many people from all over the world. That’s why I came to America.

When I arrived in San Diego at the first time, my English grammar, speaking, and reading was bad. However, since I have been at Embassy San Diego, I feel my English level is improving. So, if you worry about your English, don’t worry. Your English skills will improve for sure. I’ve met a lot of good friends and best teachers, and I love it here.

Everyone knows San Diego’s most famous thing is its many beaches. Above all I recommend Coronado. Of course each beach is very beautiful, but I think Coronado beach is especially better than any other beaches.

Most of the beaches in San Diego are very cold water, but Coronado’s water is very good to swim, and I recommend you Lil Piggy restaurant in Coronado Island. Especially the corn ball is very good.

If you like hiking, you can go to Potato Chip Rock. On top of the mountain, there is a rock looks like potato chip. That’s why people call it ‘Potato Chip Rock’.

Before you go there, you should take at least half gallons(2L) of water. Because it is very dry and you can not find shade anywhere. However, when you arrive at the top, you will be able to experience very special thing.
