What is your favourite part of working for Embassy English?

One of the best things about working with Embassy English are, absolutely, the students. Every day I get to talk to people from all over the world!
I know it sound cliche, but as much as I try to teach my students, I learn just as much if not more from them.

Can you share a story about how you have personally helped a student reach his or her goals?

One of my students from Korea had a goal of attaining a pretty high score on the TOEFL test. I was very honored when she requested me, specifically, to teach a weeks worth of private classes to help her reach this goal.

The extra work was worth it because her final score surpassed both of our expectations. She bought me a fruit basket as a way of saying thanks.

But more than the gift was the satisfaction I felt from helping her hit her target.

In your opinion what is the value of Embassy English international students?

Sure, a student could learn English on their own from a book, but why? Why learn a language and not have anyone to speak it with?

Our student will leave Embassy English with a good knowledge of the language. Just as important, they will leave Embassy English with dozens of new friends from all around the world.

These are friends they will be speaking with for the entirety of their lives!

What has working at Embassy English taught you?

I don’t dread Monday mornings. Many people do, but they don’t have my job. I have learned to enjoy my work.

I have learned to make the job fun for me and for my student (and, hopefully, for my colleagues). I have learned that a job doesn’t have to be drudgery.
